Assistance For Fire Victims
As a result of the Tuesday, July 27 North Delta apartment fire that has left families without a home and belongings, Deltassist is collecting food and clothing for victims of the fire.
Food, clothing, personal items, small household goods (no large appliances) and cash donations can be made at Deltassist's North Delta office located at 9097 120th Street, or phone 604 594-3455 for more information on how you can help.
Deltassist thanks everyone who has stepped forward with assistnace.
Meeting Room/Facility Rental
Does your business or organization need comfortable space to host meetings, training sessions or other events? Deltassist has meeting space, parking and other amenities that will fill your needs.
Deltassist's conference and board rooms can host small groups of 15 or large gatherings of up to 100. Upcoming Workshops & Clinics
Due to the success of the Family Law Clinics, Deltassist is scheduling more "Pro Bono Family Law Clinics" throughout the summer and into the fall.
These sessions are now offered in both Ladner and North Delta offices. These sessions are open to residents of Delta.
All session are part of the "Access Justice" Pro Bono Clinic (Family Law) hosted by Deltassist

Delta Opposes Violence Everywhere
As a member of the Delta Opposes Violence Everywhere (DOVE) Committee, Deltassist is pleased to provide information and resources on the valuable work of this committee
The committee's coordinated efforts work toward reducing gaps in services and increasing education for the citizens of Delta.

Delta Food Security
The Delta Food Coalition held a strategic planning session in October 2009. The goal of the session was to build on the committee meetings and develop a focused action plan for the Delta Food Coalition in the areas of community outreach & education, communication & public relations as well as municipal engagement.
Thirteen people participated in the process; most of the participants either work or live in the community of Delta.

Linking Youth in the Community
Deltassist is pleased to provide a link for youth in our community.
The following link Mind Check is a part of a Fraser Health youth and young adult health literacy initiative that encourages early detection and intervention of mental health and addiction issues in young people age 13 – 25.
The website features information on depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance misuse and offers self screening tools, education material, self help resources and links to local services and other quality resources.

New Kids' Website is Now Live
Thursday March 25, 2010 was a special day in Kids Help Phone's history. It marked the launch of the New Kids' Phone Website.

New Centralized Crisis Line
Fraser Health launched a new centralized crisis line on April 1, 2010.
The new centralized service replaces the previous three crisis lines operated by agencies in Coquitlam, Mission and Surrey.

Homelessness in Metro Vancouver
In March 2008, the Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Committee on Homelessness (RSCH) completed a count of Metro Vancouver's homeless population. The final report on the count was released on September 16, 2008 and is now available for review and download from the RSCH or by clicking
"Homelessness in Metro Vancouver: A Comparative Community Profile".
Delta ECD Committee Report
In a report by the Delta ECD Committee, it noted, "In 2006 Provincially there were 245,940 children under 6 years of age. In Metro Vancouver the number was 132.030 or 54% of all children under 6 in B.C."
"In Delta there were 5,930 children under 6 representing 2.4% of the provincial total and 4.5% of all children in the age group in Metro Vancouver."

Delta Connects:
As a member of the "Delta Connects" Steering Committee, Deltassist, along with concerned Delta residents and other community organization have produced the "Aging in Place Seniors Project" Final Report. This report attempts to answer some of the following questions.
- Is Delta ready to meet the needs of an aging population?
- What are the strengths of programs and services in Delta?
- What are the gaps and needs of the senior's population?
