Clinical Counsellor
1 Full-Time Position 
Six month temporary contract

This 1.0 FTE position reports directly to the Counselling Program Manager.



Experienced and dynamic person required to work intensively with children and families referred by MCFD in their home/community that are experiencing a variety and range of issues. This position requires flexibility of hours, some evening/weekend work, 35 hours per week.


  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or the equivalent Master’s degree
  • Experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Strength based approaches
  • Able to accurately assess needs and strengths, develop an appropriate service plan, create goals with clients, and assist clients in the change process.
  • Able to accurately assess for high risk behavioursAble to work with at-risk families on an intensive outreach basis
  • Able to maintain accurate client statistics, records, and provide reports
  • Able to make referrals to other programs or services, if appropriate
  • Able to actively participate in agency meetings and adhere to all program and agency policies and procedures
  • Able to perform other related duties as required
  • Able to effectively liaise with funders and other professionals in the community

  • Minimum 2 years counselling experience

  • Excellent verbal, written, time management, and word processing skills

  • Must have use of a safe, reliable operating vehicle
  • Must have current certification in First Aid/CPR
  • Ability to speak a second language and certification in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention are considered assets
