This 1.0 FTE position reports directly to the Counselling Program
Manager.

Experienced and dynamic person required to work intensively with
children and families referred by MCFD in their home/community that are
experiencing a variety and range of issues. This position requires
flexibility of hours, some evening/weekend work, 35 hours per
week.

- Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work or the equivalent Master’s degree
- Experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Strength based approaches
- Able to accurately assess needs and strengths, develop an appropriate service plan, create goals with clients, and assist clients in the change process.
- Able to accurately assess for high risk behavioursAble to work with at-risk families on an intensive outreach basis
- Able to maintain accurate client statistics, records, and provide reports
- Able to make referrals to other programs or services, if appropriate
- Able to actively participate in agency meetings and adhere to all program and agency policies and procedures
- Able to perform other related duties as required
- Able to effectively liaise with funders and other professionals in the community
- Minimum 2 years counselling experience
- Excellent verbal, written, time management, and word processing skills
- Must have use of a safe, reliable operating vehicle
- Must have current certification in First Aid/CPR
- Ability to speak a second language and certification in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention are considered assets
