Daily Phone Support

We have volunteers who make a daily phone call Monday – Friday between 9am- 4:00pm to seniors. Phoners provide:

  • a link with the community
  • a social contact
  • a feeling of independence

Volunteer Shopping

Volunteers will shop on behalf of a senior unable to go shopping or who needs assistance while shopping. Volunteers will:

  • help prepare your grocery list
  • read flyers and comparison shop
  • shop for or with you
  • help deliver your groceries

Volunteer Visiting

Volunteers are recruited, screened and matched with Delta seniors who would benefit from companionship. Helping to alleviate seniors’ isolation and loneliness, volunteers spend quality time visiting, walking, and providing that community contact to the senior with whom they are matched.

Volunteer Driving

The Volunteer drive program is for seniors that do not have any other means of transportation (such as HandyDART, friends or family) to medical appointments. There is a cost for this service to cover the mileage costs the volunteer driver incurs. The cost is based on the distance of the trip. Parking fees if any are the responsibility of the senior.

For more information and trips requests, contact our Ladner office.

Helping Hands

Volunteers assist pre-registered seniors with one-time requests for assistance such as: gardening and yard maintenance, snow and ice removal.
