Deltassist's Phone Shopping Program assists
seniors or people with a disability that cannot manage their grocery shopping on their own.
This free service (you only pay for the
groceries) is available weekly.
Volunteer Shopping
Volunteers shop on behalf of a senior
unable to shop or who needs assistance while shopping. Volunteers can help prepare your shopping
list, read flyers to comparison shop, shop for or with you and help deliver your groceries.

seniors. Regardless, we consider the situations specifics to recommend the best options

Volunteers make a daily phone call
Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4 pm to seniors. The calls are a link with the community,
social contact and support a feeling of living independently.
Volunteer Visiting
Volunteers are recruited, screened
and matched with Delta seniors to alleviate isolation and loneliness by spending quality time
visiting, walking, and interacting with the matched senior.
Volunteer Driving
Volunteers drive seniors that do not
have any other means of transportation (such as HandyDART, friends or family) to medical appointments.
The cost for this service covers the mileage costs the volunteer driver incurs and is based on the
distance of the trip. Parking fees are also the responsibility of the senior.

Provides Delta residents with emergency food and transportation when it is not available elsewhere.

Building capacity for a sustainable healthy community with food for all in Delta
Toy Depot & Christmas Hampers
Food is collected and then distributed in Christmas Hampers for low-income Delta residents. We also operate a Toy Dept where parents can choose Christmas gifts for their children.
Income Tax Assistance
Trained volunteers help individuals,unable to pay for assistance and unable to complete their income
tax and benefit returns. Tax returns need to be done in order to receive the GST credit and the
Canada Child Tax Benefit. Timely submission is also important when receiving benefits such as the
Guaranteed Income Supplement for seniors, MSP Premium Assistance and Pharmacare.
